This group is ideal for individuals who are navigating personal loss, feeling disconnected, or seeking a deeper connection to self and community. Experiencing anxiety or depression symptoms as the days grow shorter is a common season experience that will be assisted through these support groups. No prior experience in the arts is necessary—just a willingness to explore and express.
Key Components:
1. Thematic Exploration: Each month will focus on a unique theme that allows participants to confront and express layers of grief, anxiety, despair, curiosity, and disconnection alongside gratitude, embodiment and creativity. We gather together to lay the foundation for a grounded inner landscape.
2. Expressive Arts Modalities:
- Movement and Dance Therapy: Through guided movement exercises, members can reconnect with their bodies, fostering a sense of groundedness and emotional release.
- Visual Arts and Creative Expression: Participants will be encouraged to create visual representations of their feelings, whether through drawing, painting, or collage, to externalize and examine emotions that are hard to verbalize.
- Writing and Reflective Journaling: Short, guided writing prompts will allow members to deepen self-reflection and capture their journeys.
3. Group Sharing and Witnessing: Participants will have the option to share their creative expressions and insights with the group, fostering a community of non-judgmental witnessing. This approach can deepen empathy, help individuals feel seen, and reduce feelings of isolation in their experiences.
4. Facilitation by Licensed Creative Arts Therapists: The group will be led by experienced therapists who are board-certified in Dance/Movement Therapy and Expressive Arts. These professionals are skilled in holding space for complex emotions, guiding creative exploration, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
5. Integrative Mind-Body Practices: Each session will integrate grounding practices, such as breathwork or simple meditation, to help participants integrate the experiences of the session and re-enter their everyday lives with a sense of calm and resilience.
