Vanessa Zocchia, LCAT, R-DMT

Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Registered Dance/Movement Therapist

Vanessa is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Registered Dance/Movement therapist with over 10 years of experience. Vanessa’s drive to become a therapist was fueled from a young age, as she found herself consistently curious about why people behaved the way they did.  It was only after studying both psychology and dance in college that the world of creative arts therapy was introduced to her, allowing her to finally incorporate her passion for movement and body-based connection with psychoanalysis and theory.

Vanessa has worked with various populations across a multitude of platforms throughout her professional career including acute and extended inpatient psychiatric care, PROS and partial outpatient care, children with developmental disabilities, dementia/Alzheimer’s and has supported specialized areas including prenatal/postpartum women, college aged/1st psychotic break adults and adolescents.

Vanessa believes strongly in the power of empathy, compassion and effective communication as means of fundamental connection with others.  The basis of the relationship Vanessa strives to create within the therapeutic space is one of authenticity, trust, support and self –reflection, with some humor here and there.  Our body is our primary source of communication, and has been since the beginning of humankind.  It is time to listen to it.
